Can I use Waze on a basic phone?
Not on a flip phone. A dedicated GPS unit, your car's built-in navigation, or an essential-apps device covers this well.
Navigation is the most common practical objection after WhatsApp, and it has better answers.
- A standalone GPS unit. Inexpensive, mounts in the car, does live traffic on most current models, and never shows you a notification.
- Your car's built-in navigation, if it has one.
- An essential apps phone that supports a maps application.
- Printed or written directions for repeat trips — genuinely fine for a commute.
A note on traffic
Waze's real advantage is crowd-sourced traffic. Some dedicated GPS units include live traffic; many do not. If you drive unfamiliar routes at rush hour for a living, this matters. If you drive the same three routes, it usually doesn't.
