This varies more than any other category, so check your specific system rather than assuming.

• Thermostats, alarms, and lighting almost always keep physical controls and often a web dashboard.
• Car apps differ sharply: remote start and lock are usually app-only, while a key fob still covers the basics.
• Some electric vehicles depend heavily on their app. If you drive one, keep an app-capable device.
